Overview

*Hero after redesign

This project was a redesign of a portfolio website for 3D architectural visualiser Vladimir Fasij. The goal was to create a modern, premium-looking site that highlights his work, builds trust with referred visitors and makes it easy for them to explore projects and get in touch.

The problem

The existing website did not reflect the quality of Vladimir’s work. The layout felt dated, the structure was unclear and the visuals were not given enough space to stand out. On mobile, the experience was inconsistent and difficult to navigate. Visitors had to work too hard to understand what Vladimir offered and how to contact him.

Team & collaboration

I worked as the sole designer on this freelance project, collaborating directly with Vladimir. I handled ux and ui design, from discovery through to visual design, prototyping and handoff to development.

Competitive analysis

I reviewed portfolio sites from leading 3d visualisation studios and collected section layout references from pinterest and behance. Most of them used large imagery, minimal layouts and clear structure to build trust quickly. This highlighted how far the existing site lagged behind and set a benchmark for clarity, hierarchy and visual impact.

How I identified the problems

I started by reviewing the old website across desktop, tablet and mobile. I mapped the content, navigation and visual hierarchy to see where visitors might get lost or distracted. I then discussed Vladimir’s typical clients, project types and how referrals usually reached him.

Together we identified the main issues:

  • The homepage did not make a strong first impression
  • Project images were small and surrounded by visual noise
  • The content hierarchy was unclear and sections blended together
  • CTAs for contact and inquiries were hard to notice
  • The site felt dated and not aligned with premium studios in the same field

These findings guided the structure and visual direction of the redesign.

Design decisions

1. A hero focused on the work

I redesigned the hero section to feature a large project image with simple, direct messaging. This immediately communicates Vladimir’s specialty and sets the visual tone for the rest of the site.

2. A modular, easy-to-scan layout

I introduced a dark, modular layout that keeps each section clear and focused. Generous spacing and clear grouping make it easy for visitors to move from services to portfolio and then to contact.

3. Project pages built around imagery

I restructured the portfolio so each project is presented with large visuals and concise supporting text. This lets the renders carry the story while still giving enough context about the project type and scope.

4. A premium visual language

I used a dark theme with gold accents, balanced contrast and elegant typography to give the site a calm, high-end feel. This aligns the visual style with the quality of Vladimir’s work and with other premium studios in the field.

5. Clear calls-to-action and contact paths

I clarified the main actions on the site: view work, learn about services and contact Vladimir. CTAs are placed at key points in the journey so referred visitors can move from browsing to reaching out without friction.

6. Responsive structure for all devices

I designed the layout to adapt cleanly across desktop, tablet and mobile. Navigation, section order and image sizes were adjusted so the experience stays clear and usable regardless of screen size.

Implementation & handoff

I created wireframes to define the new content hierarchy and page structure. Once approved, I delivered high-fidelity layouts for key pages and documented page types, image handling rules and interaction details. This helped development implement the site consistently and preserve the visual quality of the renders.

The final designs (russian version included)

The final website presents Vladimir’s work in a clean, modern and focused way. Large visuals, a dark premium theme and clear structure make it easy for visitors to understand what he does and why his work stands out. I also designed a full russian version of the site to support his clients in Russian-speaking markets.

Result

A responsive experience that works well on desktop, tablet and mobile.

  • Stronger first impression.
  • Clearer structure and navigation.
  • More focus on high-quality visuals.
  • Easier paths to contact and inquiries.

Summary

I transformed an outdated portfolio into a modern, premium website that showcases Vladimir’s 3D visualisation work with clarity and confidence. The redesign improves the way new visitors experience his projects and makes it easier for potential clients to explore his work and reach out.
